Choosing the right call type for your roleplay
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Every roleplay bot has a call type. It sets the shape of the conversation — who the buyer is and how they'll engage — so pick it based on the buyer and the stage of the deal. The specifics you want to practice (pricing pushback, a tough persona, a competitor) go in the bot's scenario and personality settings after you pick the type.
Conversational call types (the bot engages in back-and-forth):
Cold Call — the prospect isn't expecting your call.
Warm Call — the prospect has shown interest or had prior contact (inbound leads, free-plan users).
Discovery Call — an interested prospect who scheduled time with you. This is a very broad call type that can be tuned to any call type during the discovery stage. This is also the fallback call type if you dont know which call type to choose.
Demo Call — a walkthrough of your product's features and benefits.
Renewal Call — an existing customer deciding whether to renew.
Check-In Call — an existing customer conversation about adoption, open issues, or churn risk.
Gatekeeper Call — practice getting routed past a front desk or assistant.
In-Person Meeting — a face-to-face conversation, like at a conference or event.
Custom Call — none of the above fits: you define the situation entirely in the scenario.
Practice format:
Focus Call — not a conversation. The bot delivers a single prompt and the rep responds — pitch practice, monologues, or drilling one objection. The bot won't reply back.
Some workspaces also have Manager 1:1, Interview, Peer to Peer, Carrier Sales, and Industry Coach — these appear only when enabled for your organization.
Which type should I use?
Pricing negotiation with a prospect — there is no "Pricing Negotiation" call type. Use Discovery and describe the negotiation in the scenario (e.g. "final pricing call — the buyer wants 20% off before signing"). To drill just the rep's response to a pricing objection, use a Focus Call instead.
Pricing or renewal negotiation with an existing customer — Renewal Call.
First outreach — Cold Call if unexpected, Warm Call if they know you.
Practicing one objection or a talk track — Focus Call.
