A Day in the Life of an AE

Last updated: October 20, 2026

This walkthrough follows an account executive through a typical day in Hyperbound: asking Kota about their own calls and deals, practising with an AI roleplay before a live call, reviewing real calls, and preparing a deal for its next meeting. Below is a written summary of each step, with where to click, so you can follow along in your own account.

1. Start on Home

Home is your landing page. It gives you three things:

  • Kota AI, our AI sales assistant. Ask questions in plain language about your own work, and Kota answers from your roleplay calls, real calls and deals. Examples from the video:

    • "Show me my recent closed-lost deals."

    • "Show me my last 10 calls where the same objection came up and I couldn't overcome it."

  • Continue training lists the learning modules assigned to you. Anything overdue is flagged in red.

  • Recent activity shows your latest Real calls and Roleplays with their scores.

2. Practise with an AI roleplay

  1. Click AI Roleplays in the left sidebar and choose a bot.

  2. Before you click Start Call, open About the Roleplay to read the scenario. If your organization has turned it on, a Scorecard tab also shows the criteria you'll be graded on, such as the opening, situation, pain and impact.

  3. Run the call.

  4. Review it under AI Roleplay Calls in the sidebar's Call history section:

    • Each scorecard criterion is green when you passed it and red when you missed it.

    • Click a criterion to see why it was scored that way and what to try next time.

    • Timestamps jump straight to that moment in the recording.

Tip: practise the type of call you're about to run. For example, use a discovery bot before a discovery call.

3. Review your real calls

Click Real calls and open a call. The sections you'll use most:

  • Moments breaks the call down so you don't have to re-listen to all of it. Categories include Goal, Pain, Trigger, Technology, Competitor, Stakeholder and Praise. Business Case, Objection and Buying Process also appear when they come up. This section is a fast way to pull the details you need for a recap email.

  • Feedback shows What went well and What to improve, along with each scorecard criterion. Click a criterion to see Why were you scored this way? and What could you do differently next time?

  • Comments let you leave a note on the call and @-mention your manager.

4. Move your deals forward

Click Deals to open your Deal Dashboard, then open a deal. On the deal page you'll find:

  • Ask Kota, with suggested prompts such as "What should I focus on to move this deal forward?" and "What am I missing or under-addressing in this deal?"

  • Summary, What could slow deal progress and Suggested Next steps.

  • Stakeholders, where each contact is tagged with an engagement level and a sentiment. Hover over a tag to see why it was given. A stakeholder with low engagement is your cue to re-engage them.

  • Prep Call, for getting ready for the next meeting. It offers three ways to practise:

    • Recommended Objection Handling covers the objections likely to come up, based on your real calls.

    • Recommended Skill Practice.

    • Practice entire conversation.

Clicking Start builds a roleplay bot from this deal's buyer, so you can rehearse before the real call. If no meeting is scheduled yet, you can still practise the deal.

Putting it together

The AE's daily loop is:

  1. Practise with a bot.

  2. Run the real call.

  3. Review the moments and feedback.

  4. Ask Kota what to do next.

  5. Prep for the next meeting.

Before you start

  • Deals needs a connected CRM: HubSpot, Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics 365.

  • Deals and Real calls need to be enabled for your organization. If either one appears locked in your sidebar, contact your Hyperbound admin or Customer Success Manager.
